What is Climate Change?

Climate Change is the greatest treat that is facing our world today. Extreme temperatures and massive change in weather patterns, erratic rainfall, excessive and prolonged drought are all indication of climate change. The effect will be felt all over Africa as it is with the rest of the world.

Over the years, there is no coherent voice for Africa that is addressing this issue, it was against this background that the coalition was established.

What People say!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Two thousand scientist, in hundred countries, engaged in the most elaborate, well organized scientific collaboration in the history of mankind, have produced long-since a consensus that we will face a string of terrible catastrophes unless we act to prepare ourselves and deal with the underlying causes of global warming"

- Al  Gore, speech at National Sierra Convention ,

sept 9, 2005.

African Leaders at their last summit:

They endorsed a plan entitled:

“Climate Information for Development Needs; An Action Plan for Africa.

"Africa`s contribution to the climate change problem is very insignificant and yet its is one of the hardest hit by the negative impact"

Extract from the conclusions of The Stern Review On the Economics of Climate Change - July 2006.

- J C Nkomo, Ph.D. (South Africa)

- A O  Nyong, Ph.D. (Nigeria)

- K. Kulindwa, Ph.D.(Tanzania)

Climate Change,"additional Stressor" in Africa.
"Climate change does not act in isolation in Africa but, instead, is just one additional stressor, because we are already contending with a lot of problems, including poverty, food insecurity, civil wars and conflicts,"

 Prof A Nyong, Jos Nigeria.
